(stage 1) I would like to email students and faculties to see if they have any knowledge of this subject and see if they would reply on their interest and what they think about the subject matter in general. The email would be like following:
You may have heard about a law that supports deporting non-citizen criminals back to their homeland. Having heard about this law, you may have thought to yourself either of the following statements:
1. It doesn't concern me.
2. They were lucky enough to have come here for a better opportunity and if they mess it up, they should go back to their homeland.
3. What? When did this law become active and how is it fair that people came here legally and have established a permanent residency and are still subject to deportation? Some of these people came here based on amnesty and not because they were looking for a better opportunity. They were just looking for a place to live because there is no more place they can call home.
Even if this issue does not directly affect you, it is not right that they can ammend the law to make it convenient for the system. This is injustice for many individuals who are affected. If they can subject this type of injustice one group of individuals, what else could be next.
We are asking to everyone's support to at least come hear some stories behind this injustice. Come hear us and you can make your own decision about what is right! More details to come soon.

Deportation of Criminals - All Stages of Publicity
For this assignment, we have been asked to show what genres and techniques are used for three different stages of publicity to incite interests in our audience for the topic of interest. My topic of interest is about "Deportation of Criminals".
The three different genres I will use are following: (stage 1) email students and faculties to see if they have any knowledge of this subject and see if they would reply on their interest and what they think about the subject; (stage 2) follow up with those who show interest, either for or against the subject matter, with a brochure of facts and questions to try to open their minds to different perspectives on the subject matter; (stage 3) hold an informative meeting and possibly show a short video with feature stories on those who are affected by this law. My point of doing this is to show that sometimes a certain law is advertised or shown as it being in the best interest of everyone, although, it may not be.
As part of my audience, what would you like to see as part of my presentation? Are there anything in the proposed set up above with which you either agree or disagree? If you can offer some feedback, it would be very helpful for me to get started on this. Thank you...

The Informative Genre:
For our latest assignment, the Informative Genre, I would like to research and write about the conditions in which children with autism may thrive. It will focus mainly on the conditions that are related to school activities and curriculum and the surrounding environment.
The two main audience that I would like to target are concerned parents and school officials of the local district. The reasons for choosing these two audiences are as following: concerned parents are those parents who are either directly or indirectly affected by ASD (autistic spectrum disorder) and they would surely want to pay attention and participate in any discussions or debate resulting from this research topic (second stage of publicity); school officials will be the targeted audience because they will be the individuals who will make a difference in any changes depending on the pressure put forward by the concerned parents (third stage of publicity). More thorough analysis will be done on the parents since they are the group which I would try to persuade in the research writing. More research on demographics, interests, values, assumptions, and knowledge base will be ascertained in order to decide on the tone of the writing. Perhaps the Providence Journal Bulletin or a local medical news magazine can be a good publication for gaining access to this target audience?
In order to appeal to this audience, I need to do a scientific based research, with references to studies, first in order to make the writing credible. Once the credibility is established, then my plan is to appeal to their sensitivity and empathy for these children. The research will be offer answers to questions like following: what is ASD; who can if affect; what is the rate of occurence in the US; what do these children need in order to succeed to the best of their ability; what can the audience do to help?
For research, I plan to read some peer reviewed journal articles. For fieldwork, I would like to interview some parents of children with ASD, and visit some support groups for parents with ASD either by internet media or a center.
Does anyone have any suggestion for me?
